THE MEANING AND THE MISSION
We stand for simplicity as the ultimate mastery
A number of great minds, from Albert Einstein to Dikran Marsupial and even Richard Freyman said a similar thing — “If you can’t explain it simply enough to a six-year-old, then the truth is that you don’t yet know it well enough yourself.” So, here’s our six-year-old version of the truth.
“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius — and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.” ―
We stand to be an empowering reminder, not another guru that takes your power away.
The rising billions mission of SelfCare (c), Is to remind people that they have never needed to be fixed, simply nourished.
We stand against this harsh truth.
Today, 19 in 20 people do not live free of disease or dysfunction.
Just one in 20 people worldwide (4·3%) had no health problems in 2013, with a third of the world’s population (2·3 billion individuals) experiencing more than five ailments, according to a major new analysis from the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2013, published in The Lancet.
We stand against the 2020 accepted “normal”.
1 in 2 people that we care about are currently living with a preventable dis-ease or dysfunction according to the World Health Organisation; that’s nearly 4 billion people.
The leading specialist in preventive medicine Dr. David Katz draws upon the latest scientific evidence and decades of clinical experience to explain how we can slash our risk of every major chronic disease—heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, dementia, and obesity—by an astounding 80%. By simply making better daily lifestyle choices, living in nourishing natural environments and being part of empowering communities.
We stand to be part of the solution, in a measurable & meaningful way.
We hope to be part of the solution, by empowering the rising billion/s to move up the health & wellbeing spectrum, away from dis-ease and dysfunctions towards good health and even longevity by 2030 in line with UN sustainable development goals; Igniting a global self-care revolution, founded on global blue zone communities, thriving together as one.
“You are not simply the sum total of the genes you were born with,” writes Deepak Chopra and Rudy Tanzi. “You are the user and controller of your genes, the author of your biological story. No prospect in self-care is more exciting.”
We stand for a human and nature-centric approach, connected as one. Overcoming the illusion of separation.
We can all agree that nature is our primary life support system. Consider the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the sun and everything else in between nourishes our survival together.
Dr Jane Goodall acknowledged that the explosive development of the human brain gives humankind a capacity to do things far beyond the capacity of even the most intelligent animal. She noted that only humans have the intelligence to send a spaceship to Mars and then remotely control a motorized vehicle to explore the surface.
However, she asked the most important question of our time;
“Isn’t it peculiar that this most intellectual creature to ever walk the planet is destroying its only home?”
Industrial and technological revolutions have accelerated us towards a cliff and 6th mass extinction. In the last 500 million years, life has had to recover from five catastrophic blows. Are humans dealing the planet a sixth?
Consider when your parents were born. In the last 50 years, just their lifetime. The Earth has experienced a biodiversity crisis. Recent estimates suggest that we are heading towards the 6th mass extinction. We threaten up to a million species of plants and animals, in large part because of our human activities such as deforestation, hunting, and overfishing. Plus our daily consumer choices that feed into these industries. Other serious threats include the spread of invasive species and diseases from human trade, as well as pollution and human-caused climate change. We are the problem.
Global wildlife populations are set to have fallen by more than two thirds on 1970 levels by the end of the decade, conservationists warn. By 2020, populations of vertebrate species could have fallen by 67 per cent over a 50-year period unless action is taken to reverse the damaging impacts of human activity.
We are the problem & the solution.
To give this perspective. Consider that without water, humans can survive between 3 – 40days. Taking into account amazing survival stories and extreme circumstances.
However, how long could we survive in the absence of even one seemingly small insect?
Albert Einstein predicted that “If bees disappeared off the face of the earth, man would only have four years left to live.”
We need to nourish nature and nature will continue to nourish us and future generations.
“When a flower doesn’t bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.” – Alexander Den Heijer
We stand to De-centralise Healthcare, SelfCare and Social impact. One person, one community at a time.
Our intention is to De-centralize the health and wellbeing space, utilising blockchain technology and empowering systems that remind people that each of us is the driver, not the passenger to their own human experience and potential. The keys are in your hands.
As consumers, employers, health plans, and governments continue to demand better affordability and personalization of health care, disruption and decentralization of health care will accelerate, according to a new report from the Center for Health Innovation at the University of California, Berkeley. Think of it as the next phase in the evolution of the health care system from a single – payer – to an open source system. SelfCare is an open source ecosystem based on blockchain technology. Let’s build the future together.
We stand for each person taking radical responsibility for their human potential, their human vessel and their unique human experience.
SelfCare is about putting your oxygen mask on to first Survive, in order to fill your own health and wellbeing cup, so that you can give and serve from energetic overflow.
“SelfCare is not selfish. We have all felt what it is like to serve from an empty cup. Fill your cup daily and serve from abundant overflow. Creating a ripple effect of positive change and inter-generational impact!”– Rory Callaghan
We stand for Thrival, not just Survival.
Thrival is about filling your own cup, your own human vessel and then putting the oxygen mask on someone else. WE <> ME.
“The power of community to create health is far greater than any physician, clinic or hospital.”― Dr Mark Hyman
We stand for co-creation and a community-based approach, unique to each geographical context and culture.
It took a village to nourish you as a child, it will take a community to heal the sick and working together as one to thrive. Co-creating a world that our future generations will be proud of, where we all plant trees that we may never sit under. This is SelfCare. Our living legacy. A circular and shared economy of energy that is a win for all, not just for some.
“A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.”― Desmond Tutu
We stand for the zero-sum approach & a world that is a WIN for all, not just for some.
Buckminster Fuller’s initial concept was to create a game of logistics that accurately simulated world resources and helped participants figure out a means of sharing them in the most equitable fashion possible.
Fuller took Cold War logic and flipped the zero-sum approach, creating a game where “everyone must win.” The goal, as he put it was to:
“Make the world work, for 100% of humanity, in the shortest possible time, through spontaneous cooperation, without ecological offence or the disadvantage of anyone.” – Buckminster Fuller
This is SelfCare; We Me One.
